Morning all, I've begun the Herculean task of cataloging all the sheet music that the chapter has collected over the past 55 years of it's existence. Partly just out of curiosity, and partly because I'd really like to know what we have. I'm guessing that I can keep track of these by entering them into the song lists, and making them inactive. But...I've been known to do a lot of work with no real benefit in the past...so I'm wondering how - or even 'if", for that matter - there's any point to this exercise! Hah! Anyway, I'd love to hear some comments on dealing with old music, etc.

Immediate thoughts for including Groupanizer... Set up a Documents page with a table with all the songs on it, and any other info you feel like including.
I guess it depends a little on why you want to include Groupanizer. Do you want your members to get access to the list, and be able to request copies of the music? Probably not, as that's a copyright nightmare.
I'd probably just put it into a spreadsheet and if you want to store the sheet somewhere on the site.

Well, I wanted to take advantage of the "data base" aspects of Groupanizer, so that members could filter the music in different ways. For example, I created two song categories, one called "archives", and one called "choreo", for songs with choreography instructions. That way members can instantly find any music that's archived, just in case they're inspired to reprise a song that we already own, etc. etc. I'm guessing the data entry would be a lot easier with a spreadsheet than in Groupanizer, but I don't know an easy way to import data from a spreadsheet into Groupanizer, other than contacts, and even that was a struggle! Thanks for your comments!

Bond, we recently logged and archived our music library, so we could have a handle on what arrangements the chorus had purchased. One of our members built a spreadsheet with all kinds of info. You could do that and post as a document. If there's no need to have immediate access to the chart, it would seem cumbersome to list them all in the repertoire area.
