I'd really love to be able to add a couple of fields to the calendar event nodes, including the following (for better event management)
- Is public? (should this event be available on our public site?)
- Number of risers required (default to 0)
- Event contact person details (always private, or perhaps linked to the contacts functionality so that you have to pick an existing contact/create a new one)
I'd also like to be able to define a block/view/whatever that on our public site woiuld show me only items that had the "Is Public" flag set to 'yes'. That way we can filter rehearsals out (and other private things) and show just the events we want people to see on our public site.

I like that! Great idea...

I actually solved the last part of the request (building public views of the info) doing it a different way.

Other requests would be for a Internal Notes vs External Notes field... we have one field right now, and I'd like to have 2, so that the second one we could use to contain ticket information or info about the event (such as other performers).
I'd also love to have a URL there as well, so that people could go to an event page (external), though I suppose I could do that within the notes block if it was available.

We just create two events - one public and one private for performances. It's not perfect but works.

Ah, good workaround! Now how do you display those "public" items to the public while keeping others hidden?

You could create a new display for the Calendar Event view to show only events of a specific type. I've done that for some that show rehearsals and public performances as opposed to private events.

OK, not elegant, but definitely a good workaround.
