This is a better way to import pictures into a gallery using the elFinder functionality that Tom enabled not long ago, at least for large numbers of picture. Using the old Create Content > Image works ok for a couple of pictures, especially if you reduce the fields that users see on the page.
Two things need to be adjusted:
1) in admin > content management > files inside the images folder create a folder called temp
2) in admin > site configuration > images > image import I set the path to sites/***.groupanizer.com/files/images/temp
*** you need change this for your site. My site is whs.groupanizer.com so in my case the *** is whs,
So the process for uploading pictures becomes:
- admin > content management > files - to upload the pictures,
- admin > content management > image galleries - to create the place where the pictures should go
- admin > content management > image import - to move the pictures from the temp folder to the appropriate gallery
It helps if you don't upload great big pictures so I used a free utility called Fotosizer to resize a whole folder full of pictures on my computer all at once, you can get it here http://www.fotosizer.com/

Note: The gallery will sort the pictures by their names.
If you want a particular order best to append numbers to the beginning of each picture's name. I use 01, 02, 03, etc.
I find its easier to do this before I upload the pictures.

Are you getting pictures to upload more than one at a time? I seem to have to individually select each image. Tom said he has had to disconnect FTP access (which would be the easiest, with maybe only WebDAV being easier)

Yes you have to individual select the files, but you can select a lot at one time.
The process admin > content management > files - to upload the pictures initially comes up with 3 places to upload files at one time, but once you use those 3 you click "add field" and get another one.
I have used this to upload at least 10 files at a time, which is much easier than the old Create Content > Image process for adding file one at a time. Since we don't have FTP access this works pretty well.

Thanks - I was hoping for a drag/drop or folder upload option, but this is better than loading them one by one.

Did something change with the last update? I don't see "files" in content management.

It's still there for me. Not sure where yours went. Is all the ELfinder stuff checked in permissions?

Just set up permissions for ELfinder. Assume it is them ok to disable IMCE module. Got a bunch or warning they are not compatible.

Ian, I get the following meesgae when I try to Content Management > Image Import
Import multiple image files and save them as image nodes. The files will be moved from their location into the image module's files directory. Searching for image files in /mnt/shared_storage/gsing_na1/chordsm/images/temp.
That path does not look correct, how do I fix it?

Did you give yourself permission to Image import? I'd make sure that Site Admin has permission to every kind of import.

I found it, the Image Import Module needs to be enabled and also permissions set.

Hello I tried to follow this instruction and fell short at point 2! I did amend the name to perthharmony and checked the path, but it said it was not recognised. Any help would be great.
Thanks, Abi
