Create a new book

The directions seem to indicate that I can create a new book but I can't find where I do that.  I have enabled the book under permissions.

Also, is it possible to change the tab for Repertoire, it showed as a default?  I want it to say Music.

Hi, Anne, I just found that.

Hi, Anne, I just found that. It's in the left-hand menu: Create Content=>Book Page. Put something in the page, then scroll down to "outline" and choose "Create a new book" from the dropdown menu.

Thanks for the comments. I

Thanks for the comments. I had already tried that and it didn't seem to work so I thought maybe I had to turn on more permissions.
Some of the help notes state that there is really no reason for more books. So until I understand this software better I guess I will stick with what I have.

It is possible to change the Repertoire link to music.

From the Admin Tool Bar: Site Building | Menus | List
Select Primary Links
Select Edit on Repertoire line
Change the Menu Link Title to whatever you would like
Scroll Down to the bottom and hit Save.

Hope this helps

To add a new book: 1) Create

To add a new book:

1) Create Content > Book Page
2) Set the title to the name of the book
3) Scroll down and click on the Book Outline heading
4) Select from the popup menu
5) Click Save

Done!

However, when I go to the Documents tab at the top of the admin screen it only displays the Documents book. Maybe it's necessary to setup some other menu item as I can't seem to find it having created it!

You're on the right track.

You're on the right track.

1. Click on "Documents." If you don't see "Add child page" below the content, click on "Outline" and make sure that it says "Documents" in the "Book" dropdown. It should also say "This is the top level page in this book"

2. Now go back to "Documents" and you should see "Add child page." Click on it and add your new content. Make it a "book page" and make the parent "Documents." This serves as kind of a "cover page" for your sub-book. It could contain the entire text of your new document, or it could be just a cover page and have multiple sub-pages. For instance, I have a "book page" in my Documents called "Common Groupanizer Tasks" and several sub-pages that belong to that book, each of which details a particular task. Don't forget to save!

3. Now if you go back to "Documents" you should see your new book listed. You can click on it and edit it or add more "child pages"

4. If you want to simply add an existing "book page," to "Documents" click on that item in "Content Management/Content/List", click on "Outline" and choose "Documents" as both the "Book" and the "Parent Item". Don't forget to "Update Book Outline"!

5. You can edit the hierarchy by going to "Content Management-Books" and clicking on "Edit order and titles"

That's all I know...but hopefully it'll be enough :-)

I was also wanting to add my

I was also wanting to add my various books to the document book so members can get to them by clicking on the Documents link, but when I click on Documents then Outline, I don't see Documents as an option in the Book dropdown. I just see a few other books that I had added because I couldn't figure out how to add them to the Documents book. Any ideas on what might be going on and how to fix it? Do I need to add it to a new book?

Thanks!

Drat, I forgot how I solved

Drat, I forgot how I solved this initially! The problem was that "Documents" wasn't a book, so I had to make it one. I thought that what I described above was how I did it, but maybe not.

Try creating a book called "Documents" and see if that does it for you...

I lost the book under

I lost the book under documents.  I want to create a new book.  If I go to create content > book page  I cannot locate the "Book Outline" menu which is supposed to have a create book option.  I also read that at some point, there was a books option under Content Management where you could create books, move pages around, etc.  I have no such choice.
Ideas on how I can create a new book?
Is this a clue?...when I click on the Superfish Documents icon I get this message...
