For the past week our cron jobs have been failing due to time limit being exceeded. Has anyone else been having this problem? I can run it manually and it releases the notifications, etc., but it doesn't seem to want to run on its own.

Cron Job Failing

I believe I have cron jobs failing, too. Members are complaining about not receiving emails from the mailing lists. I just subscribed to Forum Topics and tested, even manually running the cron job, and did not receive an email that I should have received.
No wonder the number of complaints I've gotten this week have gone up!
When I look in the logs, I also see: Cron run exceeded the time limit and was aborted.
I would appreciate help in resolving this issue!
Thanks,

It appears that the problem is in the Search module. So, if you have that turned on, you can turn it off and the cron job will succeed (at least that's what's worked for us so far). I'm hoping they figure out the root problem because I'd like to have the search capability within the site.
Hope that helps you work around the problem until it gets fixed.

Thanks for the help, Peggy! I don't know that I would have ever figured that out. It solved the issue.

I'm having issues too. I'm sure the problem is bigger than I am aware of...because most users will not realize they missed out on an email. I will try turning off the search module....see if that helps.

Hi Phil,
In fact search indexing was choking on a huge movie file that someone (you actually!) sent to one of the mailing lists. So I deleted that node and everything is working fine now.
I need to find a way to protect people from this issue, like implementing a maximum attachment size on the mailing lists perhaps!

Hmm - thought we solved that issue months ago - I'm opening up a new ticket to check it out - Phil, did turning down the index throttle help?
