Groupanizer, based on the popular Drupal content management system, is an amazing framework for a public web site that you can maintain yourself. You can make it look like anything you want, using "themes" - Drupal's version of a "look and feel" that can be applied and switched easily.
Here are some sample web sites based on Groupanizer.

General info about building public sites

The User Manual includes step-by-step instructions to build a basic public site on an existing Groupanizer member site. See http://www.groupanizer.com/feature-publicwebsite for details.

I need a HUGE favor from someone with infinitely more patience than I have. Here is our current public web-site: http://marinbarbershopchorus.org/ It absolutely sucks, and I have struggled with this for over a year, without success, except that I finally did figure out at least how to get the public to this page, so they see some very basic information. But I can't figure out how to get the logo where it's supposed to be - it claims to be missing, though I know I've uploaded it. and the Header covers up the Forums and Picture Galleries link. I'd truly appreciate any help I can get. I will try slogging through the manual one more time as well, and maybe I'll get lucky, but I'm not counting on it! Thanks very much.

Not sure why this is Sticky since most of the referenced links are old/bad/404.

Good catch - I have made it un-sticky.
We've discovered that lots of people have a hard time creating good looking public sites on their own, with a few notable exceptions that are highly technical people with some good design chops (a rare breed indeed). So we have just put a whole bunch of work into a set of Premium themes that come along with content types, pages and blocks that are tuned to the public-facing needs of a choir. These are being built on Drupal 7. The themes available for Drupal 7 are amazing! On par with or even surpassing Joomla and Wordpress themes in many cases. We are very fortunate that we chose Drupal as our platform four years ago, because it has really matured as a platform.
Groupanizer 3.0 will be released this Summer, completely rewritten with Drupal 7 as its platform, and simplicity and usability as its primary design goals. Very excited. :)
In the mean time, please consider our Premium web site package, and get yourself onto one of those shiny new D7 themes ASAP! Some details available here on our pricing page: http://groupanizer.com/pricing
Cheers,
Tom
