Groupanizer calendar events not all showing up when displayed in Google Calendar

I'm using the procedure to add a calendar to the Google Calendar view, here is the procedure I use:

  1. Open Google Calendars and log in using your Google account.
  2. Click the drop-down arrow to the right of "Other Calendars".
  3. Click on the "Add by URL" link
  4. Put in this link: http://ssvc.groupanizer.com/calendar-date/ical
  5. Don't select the option to make the calendar publicly accessible
  6. Click on the "Add Calendar" button

Most of the calendar events are displayed in the Google calendar, apparently but the first several Groupanizer events (actually several instances of a single repeating event). I don't know whether to blame Groupanizer or Google for this, but I note this about the events that are missing from the Google calendar display:

  1. Google is showing two non-repeating events in August preceding the first repeating event.
  2. Google is NOT showing in August or most of September our repeating event, which is the normal rehearsal.
  3. Google is showing in September our Saturday retreat, which is not a repeating event.
  4. After the Saturday retreat, Google is showing the repeating regular rehearsal event all the way through next June.

Please help! I want my members to use this method because then they'll be sure to have correct calendar info even when schedules change, but I can't recommend it if I can't trust it.

I wish I could add something

I wish I could add something intelligent but the procedure that you outlined works for me and all my events are synchronized correctly.
It was an easy test for me because although I have a Google account I don't use it for anything other than testing.
One of our team uses Google calendar a lot and I've contacted him to be sure that he has no issues and he assured me it works well for him.
Sorry I can't be more help.

This also doesn't work for me

This also doesn't work for me either....Though for me, I believe it is a permissions issue...   Nothing shows up for any of the events on the my calendar.  I was able to add the Silcon Valley Chorus Calender and see a few events.
What permissions need to be set where to grant Anonymous access to the calendar?

I also have been unable to add my chapters calendar to my gmail calendar.  Like Carole said I was able to add the Silcon Valley Chorus Calendar.
What are Carole and I doing wrong on our sites?

Adding Anonymous permissions

Adding Anonymous permissions for Content Access and Access Control give me access via Exchange, but not in Gmail...

Hi Guys, This is a known

Hi Guys,
This is a known issue to us - there is a lot of documentation behind this discussing google's issue around calendar syncing.  We looked into this thoroughly last year, and there was no solution at the time, as it was on Google's end.  However, it's been a year since we looked into it, so I've added this as a case to look into and see if they've updated it with a new solution by now.
Thanks for raising it up again - I know I use Groupanizer for the groups I am affiliated with, and I personally would love my google calendar to sync correctly as well!
Will update with what we discover soon..

Hi folks I put some time into

Hi folks
I put some time into this and was able to get my quartet's calendar synchronizing properly with Google!  And updating!  This second part - actually updating - is a first for me.  This has been a huge thorn in my side as I try to manage my own calendars and life, so it's hard to overstate how excited I am about this finaly working.  :)  Perhaps Google fixed something??
It took nearly 24 hours to reflect my calendar changes, but from reading forums on that topic I gather a 24 hour delay is typical.  iCal of course updates immediately when I refresh.
So here are some of the things I did:

  1. Made sure the anonymous user had access to all my calendar events, because of course Google can't authenticate itself to my server in any useful way.  Permissions were configured at Admin > Content mgmt > Content types > Calendar event > Access control.
  2. Configured the iCal feed to send the node title as the event name.  This page is found when you click on the little "settings" gear icon next to the "iCal feed" style.  I also subsequently added the body field and the location field to the view, and then set the description and location on that same dialog.  I think before, I may have had blank titles which caused Google to filter them out.
  3. Changed the iCal feed URL to http://vvvocals.com/calendar.ics (note the ".ics" extension, although I'm not absolutely sure this did anything useful, it was a tip in a forum post and it probably doesn't hurt).  This is configured in the calendar view, under the "ical feed" subview, under "path".

I actually made the calendar publicly available so you can verify it's working, and/or drop in on viaVoice rehearsals if you like.  ;)

Can anyone replicate this success?  Because if you can, I'm going to do a little happy dance.

Can you help me with your

Can you help me with your point 2 above? I can't figure out where "the little settings gear icon next to the iCal feed style" is. Is this in a Google Calendar page or a Groupanizer page?
I can't quite figure what URL I should use based on your point 3. Currently, I'm using http://ssvc.groupanizer.com/calendar-date/ical and it seems to work. I tried http://ssvc.groupanizer.com/calendar.ics and Google gave an error message, and also gave an error message when I tried http://ssvc.groupanizer.com/calendar-date/ical.ics. What is wrong with the two URLs that I tried that don't work?
One other thing to mention, about a week ago, all our Groupanizer events (future ones only, events that have passed don't seem to show up) started appearing in my Google calendar including the ones that had not shown up before. I hadn't done anything to Google or Groupanizer around that time. This is very mysterious.

Hi Jody, You have to be

Hi Jody,
You have to be editing the view itself first, then the directions will make sense.  Admin > Site building > Views.  If you can't see it, check that you have permission to see and edit views!
If you do want to change the external URL as I did (may not be necessary), you would also do that while editing the view.

All I did to get the display

All I did to get the display was to add the anonymous user in the permissions as outlined in Tom's step 1 above.  24 hours later the calendar showed up in Google.

Thanks Tom
