We have a board of directors forum area which is restricted to BOD members, which works great. Somehow, a topic that was recently posted there has shown up in the News Feed on "regular" member pages. The area is restricted (if you click on the forum link as a member, you get the "You have requested a page that requires more permission to view." error), but it defeats the purpose of having a private area of the forum if everything from it gets posted to the New Feed by default! It's happened twice now, with two separate people.
Two questions: under what conditions might this happen, and how can I delete an item from the news feed?

Sticky Situation...Private forum topics show up in News Feed

So it's not every post, just some? And it's only for one or two users? Is it new threads, as opposed to replies that show up?

I'm going to escalate this one up - will report back once we get to the bottom of it. As far as I can see, it might be that the newsfeed picks up on the topic of the private message, but once the user clicks on it, they would get an access denied message. Of course we would rather them not be able to see the header either, so I'll check if they can, and then if so, escalate up to have it solved. We're re-doing the newsfeed now anyway, so we can roll that right in.
Thanks for the heads up!

Sorry for the delay in getting back, it looks like my forum notifications aren't getting through...
Anyway, yes - it is still happening. Specifically, any new topic is placed into the news feed of everyone, even if the forum is restricted. Followup posts are not posted to the news feed, but if the original post is updated the update is re-posted to the news feed.
Thanks for looking into it!
**update** This is also occurring for Polls which have restricted access. I just created a poll that is only viewable by members with Board roles, but in the news feed, it shows up. Naturally, there's a link which leads to the "you don't have permission" page, but the whole poll is visible in the news feed.

Hi Jordan,
Yes, I would anticipate that being the case (although not that the entire poll would show up). We're actually going to do an overhaul of the newsfeed and take care of this along with giving it some really great features as well - it's near the top of the list, so not too much longer, but we'll see if we can patch that problem in the meantime (looking at it in the next 2 days)
Thanks so much for the heads up!
